5. ARMS WHIRLING

PURPOSE:
Losen your neck, practice to keep alert and allow ch'i to flow up to the hands.
鬆頸椎﹐訓練反應能力﹐氣達兩掌。

MOVEMENT DESCRIPTION:
Raise arms straight to line up with the ears with palms facing each other. Turn head to the left, turn palms to face against eah other and utter a "Ha!" sound. Repeat this 3 times and leave arms up, palms facing each other, forat least 10 seconds. Do the same by turning head to the right side.

STEPS:

  1. Stand still with feet apart in parallel, at shoulder width
  2. Hang arms down naturally with fingers slightly apart
  3. Whirl arms upward and, as soon as they are up vertically turn the head to the left, reverse the direction of the palms to face against each other and utter a "Ha!" Gradually lower the arms
  4. Repeat step 3 three times, then leave the arms up for about 10 to 20 seconds
  5. Repeat 3 & 4 by turning head to the right instead
1)兩足與外肩齊,兩胳膊置兩腿側,兩手心靠腿、十指張,目前視。
2)兩胳膊由身前向身後搖,再迂前在胸前停(兩胳膊鬆直),兩胳膊繞身一周, 兩手心始終相對,周而復始。連搖三次,每搖一次頭向右扭頭一次,但搖至第三次 停時,雙手高舉於頭上,十指朝天,手心相對,兩胳膊伸鬆直,要停十秒,使氣息 貫於十指上。
3)每搖一次隨頭扭轉要哈一次,係外強筋骨、內固五臟。
4)按此功「搖臂朝天導引法|以哈氣輔之,也可左右為之,除頭向左外,其他 皆雷同,不再敘述。
5)頭向右望﹐重複搖臂朝天三次﹐十指朝天,手心相對,兩胳膊伸鬆直,停十 秒。

NOTES:
The movements of turning head, reversing hand direction and uttering the "Ha!" sound must be done simultaneously.
